Chapter 039: Glory of the King (Vizhiyappan's Translation)

0381.  படைகுடி கூழ்அமைச்சு நட்புஅரண் ஆறும்
           உடையான் அரசருள் ஏறு

           A king having the six of “army/citizens/food/ministers/friendly/fortress”
           is lion among the kings

           Vizhiyappan's Commentary: A king with the peerless six of “army/citizens/food/
           ministers/friendly/ fortress”, is the lion among the kings.

(Likewise...)

           A country with the unparalleled six of “government/military/ethics/patriotism/self-
           thoughts/ reconciliation”, is the superpower among the nations.

0382.  அஞ்சாமை ஈகை அறிவூக்கம் இந்நான்கும்
           எஞ்சாமை வேந்தர்க் கியல்பு

           “Hardihood/Charity/Knowledge/Zealous” - not losing 
           these four is the nature of king

           Vizhiyappan's Commentary: The nature of a king is to make sure that the four of
           "Hardihood/Charity/Knowledge/Zealous" do not decrease at any state.

           The basic of agriculture is to make sure that the four of "Soil-fertilty/Water-resource/
           Quality-seed/Foliage-nutriant" do not degrade by any means.

0383.  தூங்காமை கல்வி துணிவுடைமை இம்மூன்றும்
           நீங்கா நிலனாள் பவர்க்கு

           “Awareness/Education/Courage” - these three 
           shouldn't quit the ruler of a land

           Vizhiyappan's Commentary: The three named "Awareness/Education/Courage",
           should not quit the  ruler of a land, in any situation.

           The three named "Parents/Family-members/Siblings", should not let down the family
           -head, at any time.

0384.  அறனிழுக்கா தல்லவை நீக்கி மறனிழுக்கா
           மானம் உடைய தரசு

           Unfailing ethics/avoiding unethical/unfailing valor -
           having these honors, is Government

           Vizhiyappan's Commentary: Having the self-honors such as “unfailing the ethical 
           acts, avoiding the unethical acts and not losing the valor” is the real government.

           Having the good virtues like “not criticizing the critics, eliminating the defects and not
           losing the self” is the supreme humane.

0385.  இயற்றலும் ஈட்டலுங் காத்தலும் காத்த
           வகுத்தலும் வல்ல தரசு

           Mighty in "Creating/Enhancing/Securing" and
           dividing those secured, is Government

           Vizhiyappan's Commentary: Having the mighty in "creating, enhancing and securing"
           the financial resources, and properly sharing those secured - is called the 
           Government.

           Those who are best in "listening/understanding and reflecting" the social miseries,
           and properly following those reflections - is called the Creator.

0386.  காட்சிக் கெளியன் கடுஞ்சொல்லன் அல்லனேல்
           மீக்கூறும் மன்னன் நிலம்

           If the king is “simple and non invective”,
           his country will be praised

           Vizhiyappan's Commentary: If the ruler looks very simple and do not speak invective
           to hurt others, the country they rule will be praised high.

           If the creator is easy to socialize and be honest to not to criticize the critics, the
           publications they create will travel with ethics.

0387.  இன்சொலால் ஈத்தளிக்க வல்லார்க்குத் தன்சொலால்
           தான்கண் டனைத்திவ் வுலகு

           World becomes as wished by mighty ruler,
           who speak kind & give the needy

           Vizhiyappan's Commentary: If the ruler is mighty in speaking kind and giving the
           needs, the world will secure their reputation and become like as the ruler wish for.

           If the leader is persistent in targeting the public-welfare and uprooting the corruption,
           the public will be supportive to them and help the leader conquer.

0388.  முறைசெய்து காப்பாற்றும் மன்னவன் மக்கட்கு
           இறையென்று வைக்கப் படும்

           A king who plan ethics & guards, be felt
           on par to God by public

           Vizhiyappan's Commentary: A ruler who plan ethical acts and guard the public, will
           be felt on par to God in the heart of the public.

           A child who realize the situations and grow the family, will be respected on par to
           parents in the heart of the siblings.

0389.  செவிகைப்பச் சொற்பொறுக்கும் பண்புடை வேந்தன்
           கவிகைக்கீழ்த் தங்கும் உலகு

           World stays under the umbrella of a king with
           quality of enduring unpleasant words

           Vizhiyappan's Commentary: The world will peacefully stay under the shadow of 
           “grace-umbrella” of a king, who has the quality to endure even the unpleasant words.

           The public will fearlessly live under the “holy-service” of a ruler, who has the 
           character to embrace  even the unethically criticising opponents.

0390.  கொடைஅளி செங்கோல் குடியோம்பல் நான்கும்

           உடையானாம் வேந்தர்க் கொளி

           A king with four of “Giving/Kindness/Scepter/Guarding Public”

           is light for other kings

           Vizhiyappan's Commentary: A king with the four virtues of “Giving the 
           needy/Speaking kind/Following the ethics/Guarding the Public” - will be the “light house” 
           for the rest of kings.

           A member with the four ethics of “Sharing properly/Sacrificing without 
           expectation/Respecting the elders/Maintaining the relationships” - will become the “family 
           head” for the rest of members.
