தீயினாற் சுட்டபுண் உள்ளாறும் ஆறாதே
நாவினாற் சுட்ட வடு

Body wounded by fire heals; not the
mind wounded by words

Vizhiyappan's Commentary: The scar induced on body, following the wound by fire, can be healed; but the pain induced in people, following the evil words, cannot be healed.

The relations, separated by whacking, will forget the fracture in the bones; but the relations, separated by altercation, will not forget the fracture in mind.
